Tips for Birding

Walk along the road from the parking area northeast of the causeway. Pause at the viewing platforms on either side of the causeway to watch and listen for songbirds. Watch and listen for bitterns and rails at dawn and dusk. Listen for Whip-poor-wills at dusk.

Bitterns, rails, herons, Bald Eagle, warblers and other songbirds.

About this Location

The Burley causeway provides access to marsh habitat along the Old Ausable Channel. Viewing platforms and docks on either side of the road provide a safe place to get away from vehicle traffic. This area is closed from November through April. Parking is available on the east side of the causeway.
