There are three birding locations in this hotspot. All three have parking areas. The largest one with a trail is on the east side of the highway where the museum is located. The museum is surrounded by a large grassy field with a wooded area at the north end. On the west side of the highway is a section of the park with a historic building and a statue of Stephen F. Austin. Best birding here is by walking on the grass around perimeter fence. Across the road from the statue park is an unmaintained, deteriorating asphalt road leading off the highway toward the river. You can park here and walk through the woods toward the river or check under the bridge for Cliff Swallows in season.
