Tips for Birding

The short trails at Hennessey Field are probably not worth the trip for birding alone, but are nice to walk through if you are in the area. The best parking is next to the ballfield on Lenox Avenue but you can also park on Cross Street. No need for a spotting scope here.

About this Location

Hennessey Field is located at Pleasant Street and Lennox Avenue and next to the Murphy Field and Playground. This park serves as a green oasis for the surrounding neighborhood. In the mid-twentieth century, the Town of Norwood acquired several tracts of land, known locally as Hennessy Field. To date, the area remains open space with well-maintained walking trails through deciduous woods.

At this location, several types of trees and undergrowth can be seen, including red maples, blueberries, and, occasionally, deer and turkey.
