Montezuma Quail
Sycamore Canyon has a long and storied history of birds normally found south into Mexico. The intermittent stream is surrounded by pine/oak woodlands and towering rock walls. It is a rugged hike through the stream bed five miles south the the border but the scenery and wildlife are extraordinary.
To reach the canyon, drive west from Nogales on Ruby Road. The pavement ends at Pena Blanca Lake where it becomes a slow, rough drive full of twists and turns and blind corners for another 9.5 miles to the left turn to parking for the area at Hank and Yank Spring.
