About this Location

Eliza Adams Gorge is situated along the Monadnock‐Sunapee Greenway, a 50‐mile hiking trail reaching from Grand Monadnock northward to Mount Sunapee. This section of trail crosses a 32‐acre conservation easement that is easily accessible from Route 101. This trail crosses privately owned land and is cared for by the Monadnock‐Sunapee Greenway Trail Club.

The Monadnock Conservancy obtained a conservation easement on Eliza Adams Gorge in 1998 to protect the scenic quality of the land, water quality around the 117‐acre Howe Reservoir, wildlife habitat, working forest land, and wild forest land. The Monadnock‐Sunapee Greenway Trail crosses the easement land and continues northward from the gorge toward Brown Road in Harrisville. This trail affords great views overlooking Howe Reservoir, and it travels through working forest lands as well as a “forever wild” hemlock stand, which will never have any forestry activity. From there, the trail descends down steep switchbacks to a bridge over the stunning outflow of the reservoir; Eliza Adams Gorge.

The trailhead on NH-101 is 4 miles west of the fire station in Dublin center and 4 miles east of the junction of NH-101 and NH-124 in Marlborough. Park on the south side of NH-101.
