About this Location

This thirteen-acre park includes a walking trail around the pond and sitting areas.  The pond is stocked each spring with fish by the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management.

In the 1870s a dam was built at the Mosskettuash Brook to create Willett Pond. Its original purpose was to harvest ice for the growing resorts in Riverside. In later years the resorts closed and residential neighborhoods were built in the area. The ice harvesting ceased and the pond was used primarily for recreation. Today the pond is stocked with trout in early spring and is used for fishing in the spring and summer.

Near the parking lot for the park there is a concrete slab ramp for launching hand-carried boats into the pond.

Notable Trails

A short half-mile orange-blazed trail runs around the small pond in a suburban setting.
