About this Location

The Doyle Preserve provides public access to 1,200 ft on Pemaquid Pond, just over 1 mile of trails, and serves as an outdoor learning site for use by schools and other groups. The forested woodland provides habitats for a variety of wildlife, such as pileated woodpeckers, red foxes, and red squirrels.

From Damariscotta, take Biscay Road (intersects with Business Route 1 at McDonald’s) 2 miles and turn left onto Egypt Road. Travel 1.7 miles and turn right onto Castaway Cove Road. The preserve parking area is 0.1 miles down on the right. Walk on Castaway Cove Road another 0.1 mile to the trailhead on the right.

Notable Trails

From the trailhead, the blue trail descends a half mile through forested woodlands to join with a short spur (red trail) that leads to the scenic shore of Pemaquid Pond. Two shorter trails, green (0.15 miles) and yellow (0.2 miles) offer options to extend your hike.
