Tips for Birding

If you carefully keep your bird records by state, be aware of the location of the state line and use the appropriate eBird hotspots when you submit checklists.

About this Location

Spaulding Pond is on the Salmon Falls River that borders Maine and New Hampshire. The pond was created by a dam built by Jonas Spaulding, a leatherboard manufacturer, in the late 1800s. The dam is 160 feet long and provides hydroelectric power to the area. New Hampshire is on the west side of the pond where NH-125 parallels the pond and the Salmon Falls River.
