About this Location

Janet and Toby Dakin Conservation Area is a 28-acre parcel of land that was donated to the town by Janet Wilder Dakin, a conservationist and animal lover, and her husband Winthrop Saltonstall Dakin, an attorney and civic leader. The area is located on Mechanic Street Extension and connects to a state trail. It is home to various wildlife species and plants and offers scenic views of the surrounding landscape. The area is named after the Dakins, who were also the founders of the Kestrel Land Trust, a nonprofit organization that works to conserve the Pioneer Valley.

The area is a deep woods with Baby Carriage Brook running through it.
