The Ridgetown Sewage Lagoons are most notable for attracting impressive numbers of swans and geese in spring and fall, and whenever open water is present throughout the winter. Congregations of Tundra Swans can be very impressive, and this is one of the most reliable locations in Southwestern Ontario to find different species of geese mixed in with the flocks of Canadas. Moderate numbers of ducks can also be present, but there is little to no shorebird habitat. In this extremely deforested landscape, the shrubs and trees adjacent to the ponds can be good for migrant songbirds.
There are 5 ponds here. The three on the north side of the road are fenced, but are visible from the road around the water treatment plant (access permitted). There is a viewing tower to view the southern two ponds, which are also fenced.
