The Alpena County Fairgrounds are located on the beautiful Thunder Bay River and have 37 acres of scenic shoreline where visitors can enjoy camping, fishing, biking, and wildfowl sanctuary. 

The County Fairgrounds is located within the city limits and has two free boat launches to the Thunder Bay River.

Alpena County also has hundreds of acres of state land nearby for hiking, skiing, and outdoor activities.
