Garfield Woods is an 85-acre conservation area in Berlin that was donated to the Sudbury Valley Trustees by the Garfield Corporation in 1991. The property features the North Brook, a stream that flows through the woods, and several boulder fields that offer opportunities for climbing and exploring. One of the boulder fields is known as Forty Caves, where there are many small caves and crevices to discover. Garfield Woods is a popular destination for birding, hiking, and walking, and has a 2.3-mile out-and-back trail that is easy to follow. The trailhead is located on West Street, near the Berlin Boulder, a large glacial erratic that marks the entrance to the woods.
