Shaughnessy Swamp is about 1 mile northwest of Granville Center and covers an area of about 0.5 square miles. The swamp has a high elevation of 1115 feet and is colder and wetter than the surrounding areas. The swamp is named after the Shaughnessy family, who owned land nearby. The swamp can be seen from the north side of Main Road (MA-57).
