The pond on the left as you enter may hold egrets, ducks and shorebirds in season.

It’s worth checking out the pond a couple of miles west along FM 2420.

The sign as you turn off FM 2420 looks pretty ominous, but it relates to the power plant beyond.  I have never been accosted when traveling the causeway to the turnaround and returning.  That being said, if you’re going to get out of your car I would park before the sign.

The county line is just beyond the opening of the cove on the east side of the road.
