The north and west portions of the trail through the small woodlot allows for some observation of the Fish Creek wetlands that make up the rest of the preserve.

The entrance and parking for Jessie Smith Wildlife Preserve are on Majors Lane in Kent. The preserve is managed by the Kent Parks and Recreation Department.
