Taylorsville Lake--Visitor Center Trail

Taylorsville Lake--Visitor Center Trail

2825 Overlook Road, Taylorsville, KY 40071

Tips for Birding

Scan the lake from the sidewalk along the north edge of the parking lot. There is a small feeder (filled inconsistently) on the lake side of the offices. The trails are nice and well-marked. The White Trail is the most difficult as it drops to the lakeside from the parking lot and back up again. There is a large stand of pines near the historical cabins display (small road off the parking lot carries you there) where occasional Red-breasted Nuthatches occur during irruptive seasons.

About this Location

Three short trails are in the mixed woodlands to the east of the main parking lot.

Notable Trails

White Trail, Red Trail, and Blue Trail are available opposite the ACoE offices (to the east). See map for details. The White Trail descends down to the lake and back up again, and thus is moderately difficult.
