This can be a good vantage for ducks on the river/lake, especially in late winter. There is often a large flock of Mallards that spends the winter here that can sometimes host more unusual waterfowl. 

The area adjacent to, and behind the Holiday Inn offer views of Little Lake and the Otonabee River where it enters the lake. 

There is a footpath that is paved that follows the shoreline behind the Holiday Inn. It connects to Millenium Park to the north and Del Crary Park to the south.
