About this Location

Areys Pond is a small coastal pond located in the town of Orleans. It is part of the Pleasant Bay estuary system and connects to the Atlantic Ocean via a narrow channel. The pond is popular for boating, fishing, kayaking, and sailing. The Native American Nauset tribe used the area for fishing and shellfishing. The pond was named after John Areys, a settler who bought the land in 1693 and established a farm and a mill.

Areys Pond and Areys Pond Boat Yard are located on Arey’s Pond Road in the Namequoit River watershed.
