Tips for Birding

This is a dead end road with no houses on it.

To find the road from U. S. Highway 83, follow the hotspot directions but also look for the sign at the highway saying "River Ramp" and depicting a boat ramp.

Follow the road down to the gate where you can pay a fee to access the heavily wooded area beyond the gate.

If you don't want to pay a fee, follow the left turn in the road and drive or walk that road slowly down to the cemetery at the end of the road.

From the left-hand turn at the gate to the end of the road at the cemetery, the road mostly follows an east/west direction.

The road can prove surprisingly active if one drives it very slowly or walks it very quietly. A 20 minute drive yielded 26 species by a pair of intermediate birders recently.

Birds of Interest

Pyrrhuloxia, Black-tailed Gnatcatcher, Cassin's, Chipping and Black-throated Sparrows, Audubon's Oriole

Notable Trails

None. The road is very quiet and would make for good walking birding from the roadside.
