Hiller Cove

About this Location

For Mattapoisett residents, Hiller’s Cove Beach is a wonderful spot to enjoy the sparkling waters of Aucoot Cove and Buzzards Bay. In the summer, this town beach is a destination for families who want to splash in the cove’s warm waters and watch for birds and wildlife from the sandy shores.

Hiller’s Cove Beach is hidden down a quiet dirt lane off Aucoot Road in Mattapoisett. But it’s worth discovering!

Hiller’s Cove Beach, also known as Aucoot Beach, is a small, secluded beach on the sandy shores of Hillers Cove. From the beach, you can watch sailboats drift by on Buzzards Bay, with Cape Cod as a scenic backdrop beyond.

The protected waters of Hiller’s Cove are home to a small salt marsh alongside the sandy beach. This habitat is a paradise for birds, shellfish, and even small mammals. Look for crabs skirting along the beach, and ospreys and seagulls circling the water in search of food. Over in the salt marsh, egrets and blue herons stalk unsuspecting fish and crabs. And the nearby forest nurtures wildlife like turkeys and deer.

There is a parking fee in the summer.
