About this Location

This hotspot consists of three separate parks that are very close together: Lower Orpet Park, Upper Orpet Park, and the Riviera Business Park.

Lower Orpet Park is below Alameda Padre Serra it can be birded in about 10 minutes. There is a large eucalyptus at one end which can attract migrants. There is a large fig tree at the other end. Sparrows like to hang out in the bushes below. This winter flock often has several Fox Sparrows and they are best seen by quietly watching from the steps which lead up to APS.

The Riviera Business Park is pretty large but the main birding areas center around eucalyptus which can hold fall migrants. There is a good stand of Eucalyptus where Upper Orpet Park hits the Riviera Business Park and there is another large Eucalyptus in the Riviera Business Park Parking lot. There is also a small pond which attracts warblers in fall. It is worth it to sit here quietly and watch the birds come in. There are bottle brushes near Mission ridge which consistently attract hummingbirds.
