This trail is naturally shaded and extends for three miles between Martin Luther King Jr. Recreational Park (off Jackson Road) and Fairland Road.

Located just south the of Upper Paint Branch Best Natural Areas, the trail features views of Paint Branch stream and passes the historic Valley Mill and the former site of Snowden Mill. These mills are among the oldest in Montgomery County, dating back to the 1700’s.

Unless noted otherwise on the map, trails marked “Natural Surface” and “Hard Surface” are “Shared by All” trails which includes hikers, bikers, and equestrians.

Location:

West of Rt. 29 and south of Fairland Road in the eastern part of Montgomery County.

Trail length/surface:

Paint Branch Trail is hard surface and 3 miles. Another 3 miles of hard surface trails crisscross Martin Luther King Jr. Park.

Trail characteristics:

Easy to follow, gentle grades. A trail underpass provides a safe crossing beneath Randolph Road, but trail users should exercise caution during and after heavy rains as the trail might become temporarily impassable.

Access and parking:

Ample parking is available in Martin Luther King Park off Jackson Road and parking is also available north and south of East Randolph Road.
