Tips for Birding

From PA 100 in Eagle, turn west on Park Road and follow it 1.9 miles into the park. Scan the lake from the parking lots. To get to the other side of the lake, follow Park Road back out of the park for 1.8 miles and turn left (north) on Little Conestoga Road. After about 1.9 miles you will cross an arm of the lake. Stop here and scan for waterfowl and wading birds. Continue on Little Conestoga Road for another 0.9 mile and turn left on Chalfant Road. This road dead-ends at a parking lot (1.3 mile) next to the lake. Scan the lake from here as well as along the road.

About this Location

Marsh Creek State Park is best known for Marsh Creek Lake which is good for migrating and wintering waterfowl. It is, however, open to boaters, so large numbers of waterfowl seldom congregate here, except in inclement weather. In spite of that it gets a good variety of waterfowl and is well worth checking from October through April.
