The grounds of Saranac Lake High School feature a small pond that is a good spot for birdwatching. Especially in spring, you can find migratory shorebirds visiting the pond. As the seasons change, songbirds fill the trees around the pond, and waterfowl and geese become plentiful in the fall.  A nature trail around the pond makes it easy to observe the birds.
