Isle au Haut is a small un-bridged island nearly seven miles from the mainland. In the 1600s, explorer Samuel de Champlain gave it its name, meaning “High Island.” Our current year-round population is roughly 54, reaching to over 250 in the summer. A large portion of the island is home to Acadia National Park, giving people ample opportunities to hike, bike, and explore.
