The Merrymeeting Bay Wildlife Management Area (WMA) consists of tidal wetlands, an upland buffer bordering Merrymeeting Bay, and seven water bodies. The wetland portion contains a mixture of tidal fresh marsh, shallow fresh marsh, shrub swamp, and flooded woodland. This area provides habitats for numerous species of waterfowl and wading birds, shorebirds, aquatic furbearers, and other wildlife species. At the same time, this WMA provides access to the Merrymeeting Bay Area at many points.

This management area is made up of many smaller compartments and parcels.
