About this Location

Mount Sugarloaf is a mountain with two summits, North and South, located in South Deerfield. It is one of the tallest points in western Massachusetts and offers views of the Connecticut River, Pioneer Valley, and Berkshire Hills. The mountain is made of arkose sandstone, which gives it a distinctive reddish color. Mount Sugarloaf State Reservation is a public recreation area that allows visitors to hike, bike, picnic and enjoy the scenery. The reservation is open year-round from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and has a parking fee.

The Summit road is open from mid-May through mid-October. The summit of Mount Sugarloaf offers views of the Connecticut River Valley.
