About this Location

The Tomhannock Reservoir was created in 1900 by damming the Tomhannock Creek, a tributary of the Hudson River. The reservoir serves as the primary source of drinking water for the city of Troy and several nearby communities. 

Tomhannock Reservoir is the largest freshwater body in Rensselaer County, New York. The lake is approximately 1,720 acres in size. This reservoir is especially good to check for waterfowl during autumn migration.
