Tips for Birding

It is most helpful when submitting eBird observations at Powhatan Wildlife Management Area (WMA) to start a new checklist for each hotspot within the area.

About this Location

eBird has separate hotspots for the sections north, and south, of U.S. 60 (Anderson Highway). Visitors at any Virginia WMA are required to either hold an annual permit or purchase a day-use permit.

Note there is a third location, right on U.S. 60, at 4794 Anderson Highway. This is the field office of the Department of Wildlife Resources. There is parking for several vehicles and a small clearing around the building, but no trails and no restrooms.
