About this Location

Loyalhanna Lake is a reservoir found in Loyalhanna Township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. It's a 480-acre lake created by the Loyalhanna Dam on Loyalhanna Creek. The lake is managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

The lake is surrounded by diverse terrain, ranging from the rolling foothills of the Laurel Highlands to steep, wooded hillsides and ravines. This scenic location makes Loyalhanna Lake a popular destination for outdoor recreation. Visitors enjoy activities such as boating, fishing, picnicking, and hunting. The lake is also an important part of the flood control system for the lower Loyalhanna Creek and Kiskiminetas River valleys, as well as the lower Allegheny and upper Ohio Rivers.
