When submitting eBird observations at the James River Park System, it is most helpful to start a new checklist for each hotspot the area. Use the general hotspot when you have a checklist that includes multiple locations or if no other hotspot or personal location is appropriate for your sightings.

Most of the Refuge is closed to public entry. The two open places are both included in this hot spot group. There is a portable toilet at the trailhead parking lot for Powell's Creek Nature Trail.
