Official WebsiteWhen submitting eBird observations at Hyannis Ponds Wildlife Management Area, it is most helpful to start a new checklist for each hotspot in the wildlife area. Use the general hotspot when you have a checklist that includes multiple locations or if no other hotspot or personal location is appropriate for your sightings.
Hyannis Ponds Wildlife Management Area (WMA) features a pitch pine forest with an understory dominated by huckleberry and lowbush blueberry. The WMA is divided into 3 main parcels and provides access to three coastal plain ponds: Lamson Pond, Israel Pond, and Campground Pond.
There is a dirt parking area next to the main parcel located off of Mary Dunn Road in Barnstable which can hold 2 vehicles and allows for access to parcels on either side of Mary Dunn Road. Roadside parking and access to the southern, smallest parcel can be accessed from Airport Road.
The AllTrails website has a map and description of a hike at Hyannis Ponds Wildlife Management Area.
