About Little Beaver Creek Important Bird Area

This lBA includes the river drainage north of East Liverpool and includes the Beaver Creek State Forest. Deep hemlock gorges and rugged hills surround much of Little Beaver Creek with a high diversity of plant life.

The drainage is one of the six or seven sites in Ohio harboring Canadian-zone species. It remains a potential Black-throated Blue Warbler breeding site. One of top five sites for Blue-headed Vireo, with Black-throated Green Warbler, Yellow-throated Warbler, Prairie Warbler, Cerulean Warbler, and Worm-eating Warbler. Specialty site for Northern Parula and Red-breasted Nuthatch. This IBA is the only Ohio confirmed breeding site for Common Merganser.
