The James Magrish Riverlands Preserve is a rich river bottom habitat situated along the National Scenic Little Miami River. The present tract exists as a result of the efforts of the city, the Cincinnati Recreation Commission, Little Miami Inc., and the Cincinnati Park Board. Substantial funds were donated by Edith Krohn Magrish, in memory of her husband, James, a strong supporter of Little Miami Incorporated, to make the beauty of the area more accessible to the visiting public. The occasional flooding of the preserve provides an environment suited to the needs of an interesting variety of water-adapted wildlife. Wood Duck, Blue-Winged Teal, Willow Flycatchers and various species of frogs, as well as longed-legged wading birds, like Great Blue and Green Herons, reside here. Fox, deer, and muskrat can often be seen, as can signs of Beaver activity. The riverside location of this preserve also offers ideal vantage points for viewing river wildlife like painted and snapping turtles, Kingfisher and Osprey. The park features hiking trails, a scenic river overlook, and a canoe launch.

From Magrish Riverlands Preserve drive southeast on Canoe Court. Turn right onto Salem Road and go .1 mile. Turn right onto Kellogg Avenue (US-52) and drive 2 miles. Turn right onto McCullough Street and go .2 mile. turn right onto Eastern Avenue and drive 1.6 miles. turn left onto Heekin Avenue and go .3 mile. Turn left to stay on Heekin Avenue and continue .4 mile. Make a slight right onto Ault Park Drive. Arrive at Ault Park.

Providing picnic facilities, nature trails, and children’s play areas, Ault Park adds to its attractions with a splendid pavilion and lookout point and beautiful gardens. Ault is one of Southwest Ohio’s premier parks and hosts events such as the Concours d’ Elegance Car Show, as well as summer dances and a community July 4th celebration. Its beautiful backdrop and pavilion make it popular for weddings and private parties.

At around 224 acres, Ault Park also is one of the best parks in the city in which to observe the ancient geology of Cincinnati.

From Ault Park make a slight left onto Heekin Avenue and drive .4 mile. Turn right onto Le Blond Avenue for .2 mile. Turn left onto Beverly Hill Drive for .1 mile. Turn left onto Linwood Avenue and go .3 mile. Continue straight onto Beechmont Avenue then keep left to stay on Beechmont Avenue for .3 mile. Turn right onto Wilmer Avenue. Make a slight right and then turn right onto Beechmont Circle and go .3 mile. Turn left onto Wooster Road for .3 mile. Turn right onto Armleder road and Arrive at Armleder Park.

Park open daily dawn to dusk. Sections of Armleder Park may close due to the Ohio River levels.

Features a new one-mile paved trail that connects the park’s existing 1.9-mile trail to the five mile Lunken Airfield loop (opened in spring 2012) playground, reservable soccer fields, river outlook and canoe access to the Little Miami River. Also has a 10-acre dog park with areas for large and small breeds, canine shower and drinking fountains.

Armleder Park is a joint venture between the Cincinnati Park Board, Cincinnati Recreation Commission and the Hamilton County Park District.

From Armleder Park turn right onto Wooster Road and drive 1.2 miles. Turn right onto Wooster Pike and go .4 mile. Turn right onto US-50 east and drive 3 miles. Turn right onto Avoca Park Trailhead.

Avoca Park is located at 7949 Wooster Pike (US-50), 1.6 miles east of Mariemont and west of Terrace Park. It is the southern trailhead of Little Miami Scenic Trail which goes north along the Little Miami River. Owned by the Hamilton County Park District, the 65-acre area is now being preserved without development except for parking and restrooms.

From Avoca Park turn left onto US-50 and drive .6 mile. Turn left onto Newtown Road and go .6 mile. Turn left onto Valley Avenue for .3 mile. Turn left onto Round Bottom Road and drive .9 mile. Arrive at Riverside Park on the left.

Riverside Park is 46 acres cradled in a bend of the Little Miami River complete with 6 ball diamonds, 2 synthetic turf fields, a hike/bike trail, a concession/restroom building, a playground, and land used for soccer, football, and lacrosse matches.
