Tips for Birding

The surrounding acreage outside of the wine-tasting yard is private property. Do not trespass outside of the wine-tasting area. 

Birds of Interest

Birds typical of oak and sycamore woodland are found here. Common birds include woodpeckers, bluebirds, nuthatches, sparrows, and quail. Trees in the yard outside of the tasting room show sapsucker wells. Unusual species recorded here include Broad-winged Hawk, Vermilion Flycatcher, and Black-throated Sparrow.

About this Location

Rancho Sisquoc Winery is located east of Santa Maria at 6600 Foxen Canyon Road. This scenic spot is situated next to a bluff above the Sisquoc River valley. The winery is not open to the public specifically for birding, but visitors can bird the grounds around the tasting room while on-site for wine tasting and picnicking. Reservations are highly encouraged on the weekends. Walk-ins are welcome on the weekdays.
