About this Location

This parcel of conservation land is mainly wooded and full of life! The entire property consists of 105.4 acres and the total mileage of trails here is approximately 2 miles. The loop trail runs along scenic rock outcroppings, one of which overlooks the pond on the south end of the property.

Cider Knoll is an ideal bird-watching spot as the pond and the bordering wetland area provide rich wildlife habitats. Various waterfowl have been spotted here along with birds such as the great blue heron and the belted kingfisher. Reptiles and amphibians are also common here. Some mammal species spotted on the trails include white-tailed deer, beaver, fisher, wild turkeys, and signs of raccoon and coyote.

This conservation land also adjoins several historical homesteads on Concord and Stow Roads. These were owned by some of the original settlers of Marlborough. Portions of the landscape were once open fields and a small apple orchard.

The entrance off of Stow Road is also the location of the Community Garden. This organic garden is used by community members and is filled with several different types of fruits, vegetables, and flowers.
