About this Location

The Peanut Trial, as it is colloquially known, is part of a rail bed that once connected Newton Junction to Merrimack, Massachusetts. The Merrimack segment is now known as the Jay Mclaren Trail. The original rail bed was split in two as the end result of a lawsuit involving locals. The end result is that one can no longer enjoy travel along its entire length. The segment known as the Peanut Trail in Newton is a 1 mile gentle and scenic grade. It is used year-round by folks biking, walking, and running.
