About this Location

Lock #10 on the Muskingum River in Zanesville, Ohio, is a place of tranquility and a step back in time. Located at the end of a historic canal, this working double lock still operates as it did when it was built 170 years ago.

The park with the lock is accessible from Zanesville’s distinctive Y-Bridge. The Pioneer and Historical Society of Muskingum County, with tons of historical information about the area (including its significant Underground Railroad activity), is less than a mile away.

Not far from downtown Zanesville, Lock Ten may well be the easiest of the locks along the Muskingum River Park system to access. Well maintained, with some great views of the area, and the Lockkeeper’s House is one of the best maintained along the chain.
