About this Location

In 1973, Orange Village purchased 31 acres of undeveloped land from the Rosko family with the hope that one day it could be the site for a new Village Hall. A small baseball field (Hazlett Field), accessible from Pike Drive, was constructed shortly after the land was purchased.

The first park plans were prepared in 1989, the park entry drive was installed, and construction of the park was underway. In 1991, the council passed Ordinance 1989-18, which provides for the imposition of a $750 impact fee on new construction to be used for recreational development. By the end of 1995, Orange Village had acquired 15 more acres of land, increasing the size of the park to 46 acres. During this same period, recreational facilities had been expanded to include nature preserves with a half mile of paved trails, two baseball fields with bleachers and backstops, and two tot lots with picnic pavilions, tables, and grills, as well as the new municipal facility.

Over the course of many years, the park has grown to 53.4 acres. Orange Village was awarded a Natureworks grant in 1998 to construct an additional 0.5 miles of paved nature trails, install fitness stations, and build 3 information kiosks. Residents can enjoy many amenities in the park including a soccer/football field, sand volleyball court, sledding hill, chipping/putting green, dog park, free library, and a pickleball court.

In 2017, Orange Village upgraded the playground equipment with a state-of-the-art play area, with a portion of the funds received from a Natureworks grant. In 2021, the village installed a permanent restroom facility near the playground.
