Custer Monument is to the young soldier whose “Last Stand” made him a household name, at the site of George Armstrong Custer’s birthplace. Only the foundation of Custer’s birthplace remains at this roadside park and picnic area. At the exhibit pavilion, read about Custer’s life and the spirited qualities of the young soldier.
George Armstrong Custer was an American military leader who became known as a cavalry commander for the Union during the American Civil War and in the opening of the West in the years after this conflict. Custer was born on December 5, 1839, in New Rumley, Ohio.
