160th street is a Level B service road. It has hills and can be treacherous and difficult to drive. Walk the road for a more pleasant birding experience.

This is an extensive area of mature woods. 160th Street is a Level B Service road and can be difficult to drive. There is space to park along the side of the road right when you turn onto it from HWY 151. Then you can walk the road. The woods themselves are private property and you need permission to enter them

About Iowa River Corridor Bird Conservation Area

This area is a large cooperative restoration project of the Natural Resources Conservation Service, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Iowa Department of Natural Resources, and several other groups. This area consists of both public and private land, and the area that has been or is being restored to grassland, wetland, shrub, or wooded habitat is around 15,000 acres. The Iowa River Corridor supports breeding populations of many grassland and wetland species including Northern Harriers.
