The walking path around Gardiner Pond promises up-close views of Ruddy Ducks, American Coot, mergansers, and Ring-necked Ducks. Even the green-headed Mallard ducks look brilliant when the sun catches their feathers. You might also find a family of swans, cormorants, and lots of seagulls, and if you look up, you just might catch a Red-tailed Hawk perched in a tree.
Gardiner Pond is not viewable from the roadside. The trail around the pond is about 1.2 miles long and is relatively flat. It's an easy walk that should take you about 30-40 minutes to complete. There is roadside parking on Hanging Rock Road.
