About this Location

Sandy Mackerel Cove, also known as Jamestown Town Beach, is sheltered from the currents of Narragansett Bay, making it a great spot for families. From early June to early September, it is open only to residents and others holding rental leases of at least 30 days. Amenities: food and drink; lifeguards; parking (fee); toilets. Best for: sunrise; sunset; swimming; walking. Jamestown is known for its quiet retreats and beautiful vistas, so it should be no surprise that Mackerel Cove Town Beach is a relatively tranquil spot that’s popular with families. Located on the “beaver tail” of land that gives Beavertail State Park its name. Pay to park, but no admission.
