This 424 acre tract that surrounds the maintenance shop at 2254 200th St., New Sharon and extends south to the South Skunk River is an excellent example of disturbed land that has been allowed to revert back to its natural state. Part of the area was once a limestone quarry and crushing operation. The area's five quarry ponds offer anglers the chance to catch bass, catfish, crappie, and bluegills. Small boats, canoes and kayaks are permitted on all of the ponds. Wooded areas and prairie restoration are accessible by foot for activities such as hiking, hunting, bird watching, cross country skiing, or snowshoeing.
