Get there early.
The Santa Barbara Zoo is very underbirded and offers great potential. If you are birding with kids, this is a great spot to check. There are several large Tipu Tipuana and bottle brush trees near the top of the hill that consistently hold migrants in fall. In spring, this area can offer an excellent vantage point for migrating swallows and swifts. Finally, there is an excellent boardwalk that wraps around behind the condor exhibit. This path offers views of the Bird Refuge.
