Birds of Interest

The marsh is a very productive hotspot in Berkshire County with opportunities for unique birds year-round.

Winter:
In the winter months, Post Farm Marsh tends to be a good place to get Barred Owls and Saw-whet Owls.

Spring/Summer:
In the early spring, Post Farm Marsh is a reliable spot to find American Woodcock due to an abundance of shrubby forest/field edge habitat just south of the marsh. As migration starts to pick up later in the spring, the marsh is a good place to find Rusty Blackbirds and migrating warblers. The following species can also be found in late spring, but will also sometimes breed at the marsh: Marsh Wrens, Sora, American Bittern (and Least Bittern if you are extremely lucky), and Virginia Rails.

Autumn:
Similar to spring migration, fall at Post Farm Marsh is also productive for warblers. Additionally, the autumn migration tends to be especially productive for waterfowl.
