Ram's Tail Rd., Foster

About this Location

The Foster Land Trust, whose purpose is to preserve the natural resources of Foster for present and future generations, preserves the Hopkins Property, a 24-acre property on the north end of Rams Tail Road. It is accessible from the Hopkins Mills Cemetery parking area.  From the cemetery, walk south down the hill east of Rams Tail Road.

Notable Trails

A 1/2-mile, yellow-blazed trail starts at the tree line at the bottom of the hill south of the Hopkins Mills Cemetery parking area. After about a 1/4 mile, watch for the trail to take a left on a single track up and over a hill. If you miss this turn, you will be trespassing on Providence Water Supply Board land.

The correct trail will take you to the old McLaughin Bridge (currently a beaver dam!) at the confluence of Dolly Cole Brook and the Ponagansett River. On the way back, don't forget to watch for that right-hand turn over the hill to avoid Providence Water Supply Board Land.

This trail an easy double-track walk with one exception being the short single track over the hill; however, this too is easy walking.
