Tips for Birding

Parking is available at the edge of the Walmart or Menards parking lots. There is quite a bit of habitat for such a developed area and still several open undeveloped lots in the area. Parking is abundant and both sides of the creek from Glendale Milford south to the farthest end of the Walmart parking lot are owned by the Mill Creek watershed conservation organization. There is a crude trail at the southernmost end. Most of the growth is Amur Honeysuckle, but there are quite a few very large Sycamores, and even a few exceptionally large Osage Orange. The Cunningham Drive bridge over Mill Creek has a sidewalk on both sides where you can view birds on the creek.

About this Location

Mill Creek lies at the heart, soul, and industrial center of Greater Cincinnati. This 28-mile stream begins in Liberty Township, travels through 34 communities, and flows into the Ohio River just west of downtown Cincinnati.

Today, the city’s Mill Creek Greenway Program is the vehicle for implementing a comprehensive Mill Creek Healthy People/Healthy River Strategy that provides multiple public benefits. The premise of the strategy is that all City neighborhoods should be livable and sustainable and that by definition livable and sustainable neighborhoods have healthy natural resources and healthy people living in them.
