There are signs directing people to the back parking area of the TriPoint Medical Center where the trail starts behind the medical buildings… easy to find.
The trail is in mixed deciduous woodland with a healthy understory with a small creek running through it. Nearby on other properties are industries that host ponds, so birds coming or going to these water sources can be seen from the public trail. This spot is about 7 miles from the coast of Lake Erie.
In October 2017, it hosted a warbler fallout, and over the past year, I’ve seen Red-shouldered Hawks frequent the area (possibly nesting).
The Wellness Way Walk is an extension of the trail which encircles the wooded campus of the TriPoint Health Center.
Open to the public, the trail is designed for walkers and provides community members with opportunities for physical activity, a leisurely stroll, or tranquil rest, while surrounded by the beauty of nature. Exercise stations, meditation areas, a children’s play area, a viewing platform, a musical garden, and a boardwalk over scenic wetlands line the one-mile path.
Open year‐round from dawn to dusk, the trail prohibits bicycles and pets.
