This small park is adjacent, and has access, to the Chagrin River. There are two small loop trails: one from the parking lot that goes around a wet field and the other across the street from the parking lot. The second follows the Chagrin River around a field before running along the edge of woods, which are part of Hach-Otis State Nature Preserve.

Lake Metroparks has worked to restore the property, once a commercial nursery, to a functioning floodplain corridor. Cottonwood and sycamore trees continue to reclaim the valley floor in the shadow of an 80-foot-high bank on the Chagrin River. An Ohio fishing license is required to fish in the Chagrin River at Pleasant Valley Park. Bald eagles have nested just west of Pleasant Valley Park for several years.

The northern portion of Pleasant Valley Park provides short hiking trails through early successional cottonwood and sycamore stands as well as access to over 2,000 feet of the Chagrin River for steelhead fishing and outdoor enjoyment. Shale slopes tower up to 80 feet over this dramatic stretch of the State Scenic Chagrin River near Hatch Otis State Nature Preserve. The southern portion of this park is managed as a preserve and is currently not accessible to the public. Lake Metroparks has worked to restore this property, once operated as a commercial nursery, to a functioning floodplain populated with native wetland plant species that provide nesting and foraging opportunities for waterfowl and other wildlife dependent on a healthy Chagrin River for survival. Bald eagles have nested just west of Pleasant Valley Park.
